Eternally Innocent, Eternally Wise

This is a touching story of a matriarchal figure, who views the world around her with wise and perceptive eyes. She offers insights into the natural world, her family relationships, and the trials and triumphs she endures. The tale is a respectful ode to loss, leadership, and living with the rhythms of nature. 944 passes away at the age of 22, surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy symbolized by her number.

For people who love animals and believe in their sentience, a short story, based on reality, of innocence and wisdom as one. Set on a small farm in Aotearoa-New Zealand.

The view from up here looks across the green valley and out to the sea. From lower down not much can be seen, as there are trees all around. I watched them grow year after year, and enjoy the shelter they give from the wind. No matter from what direction the wind blows, there’s always a warm spot, and place to bed down when it rains at night. Sometimes the wind roars across the top of the trees and barely touches the ground. From north, to east, to west, to south, the wind brings different sounds and different smells. I know them all…

Working with stone

Oamaru stone relief sculptures with soul – or rather the Māori word mauri is a closer characterisation.

Traditional tā moko or tattooing involves dialogue between the artist and the person. In short, artists should have some knowledge of the person before making marks.

Each of my stones are unique – designed and carved for the individual, family or place where it will be situated. At times with care and forethought I use these marks on my stonework breathing mauri into the stone giving it life, vitality, essence and emotion. The stone will then work with me, interacting with every touch while I remain constantly mindful of the person or people or place the stone is destined for.

This modest little website is delighted you’ve visited – thank you! It is a depository for this mind’s workings, so of course is by no means complete. Much from past, present and future is yet to be added. My current energies are focused on a digital narrative, which, while well on the way, may still be some time away before it’s full dawning. Via the blog facility I can let you know of updates, although who would follow I really don’t know. No matter, I’m excited to finally have got this far.
